2017 Season Prediction

This season is gonna be very hard to predict because there are so many players this team lost in the off-season there is a huge unknown when it comes to 2017. The number 1 question is whos the QB? As of now its a neck and neck race between Junior Quinten Dormandy and Redshirt Freshman Jarrett Guarantano. Neither of these two are a proven commodity so pegging the starter will be crucial to the success o this team. Not to mention the other losses mainly on the defense. This will be the year all those top recruiting classes either show up or bust. All that said I'm fairly optimistic about this year if they get the QB right it could be a good season. Looking at the schedule there are at least 7 maybe 8 games the Vols should be favored to win. With that said I predict the Vols go 8-4 but if the right pieces fall in place this team can overachieve if not it could be a ruff year for us on Rocky Top.

Is 2017 a hot seat Year for Butch Jones?

Coach Jones took over the Tennessee program at the end of 2012 in what is one of the darkest periods in Tennessee football history. After the horrible tenures of Derek Dooley and the one year of Lane Kiffin this program was at its lowest point. Butch came in and immediately began stabilizing this program and pulling it from obscurity back to a respectable program. But as we all know in Tennessee respectable isn't good enough. Our fan base is one of the best in the nation but sometimes we let ourselves go when it comes to expectations. Even though our expectations sometimes are far-fetched being spoiled with a successful program for many decades will do that to any fan base.

Now back to Butch his accomplishments on Rocky Top have been very good. In 2015 winning the teams first bowl since 07, snapping the 5 year losing streak against Georgia during the 2015 season, back to back 9 win seasons, 3 straight bowl victories, and maybe the biggest of all beating the Gators and stopping that streak of 11 straight loses. But with these accomplishments comes the failures we have seen. Not being able to beat Alabama, not winning the east division despite the past 2 seasons being in position but blowing there chance late to go to Atlanta.

All this said the million dollar question is will Butch be on the hot seat this year. My answer is no but under perform again this year especially after the hype last year and we may have a different discussion in 2018.

Hello my name is Brandon Archey and I am a die hard Vols fan who happens to live in Texas.
